Students Named NASP Semifinalists
Four local private-school students have earned semifinalist status in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. They are among more than 1,600 black high school seniors nationwide hoping to land 800 awards worth about $2.5 million. Winners will be announced in the spring.
The local semifinalists include Mimi Asom (Hockaday), Jordan Barnes (Hockaday), Azani Creeks (Hockaday), and Jacqueline Gibson (Ursuline).
The program, which is part of National Merit Scholarship Corp., rewards students for academic performance and test scores.
