Police Report: September 8 to September 13


SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Natural Selection

Between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, a thief stole a Werner aluminum ladder and a gas-powered Echo edger from the back yard of a house in the 4500 block of Arcady Avenue. Police found an empty 16-ounce Natural Light beer can near the driveway gate at the house. The homeowner didn’t drink the beer, so police checked a construction site two houses down for more cans, but didn’t find any.


HIGHLAND PARK

8 MONDAY
At 8:10 p.m., a resident of the 4200 block of Armstrong Parkwayreported an abandoned 2009 Honda Accord with a damaged windshield that was parked abnormally far from the curb. The car was locked, and police contacted the owner, who said it had been stolen in Dallas, but he hadn’t reported it. So the car was impounded.

12 FRIDAY
At 10:55 p.m., Zachary Joseph Giker, 25, was arrested atHighland Park Village on a public intoxication charge.

13 SATURDAY
Between 10 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 13, a large flowerpot containing an ornamental tree was damaged in the rear porch of a house in the 4500 block of Westway Avenue. The homeowner suspects the $200 pot was dropped during an attempted theft, and said larcenists have taken large flowerpots off the porch before.


UNIVERSITY PARK

8 MONDAY
Between 5 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 8, a thief stole $10,000 worth of copper pipes from a construction site in the 4000 block of Glenwick Lane. During the same weekend, a thief stole $5,000 worth of copper pipes from a construction site in the 4000 block of Lovers Lane.

10 WEDNESDAY
Between 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 10, a burglar broke into a house under construction in the 3400 block of Purdue Street and stole $920 worth of undisclosed household goods.

Between 10 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 10, a thief stole a gold 2002 Dodge Durango, valued at $2,000, in the 3200 block of Milton Avenue.

11 THURSDAY
At 2 a.m., Benjamin Parke, 23, of University Park was arrested in the 6000 block of Key Street on a public intoxication charge. Samantha Page Cooper, 19, of Dallas was arrested on charges of consumption of alcohol by a minor and use of a fake ID.

At 9:30 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2013 Infiniti at University Park United Methodist Church and stole a $1,270 Louis Vuitton purse and a $775 Louis Vuitton clutch.

Between 11:21 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., a vandal broke the back door of a house in the 2900 block of Amherst Street, causing $400 in damage.

12 FRIDAY
At 6:50 p.m., Austin Tyler Ludmer, 19, of Mesquite was arrested on a drug possession charge after he was spotted with 7.2 grams of packaged marijuana, a gram of cocaine, and various amounts of liquor and drug paraphernalia at an apartment in the 4500 block of Emerson Avenue. Earlier, an assistant principal at nearby Highland Park High School reported someone on campus possessing 7.2 grams of packaged marijuana and a pipe.

13 SATURDAY
At 6 a.m., Taylor Nicholas, 22, of Dallas was arrested in the 6500 block of Preston Road on a public intoxication charge.

At 10:26 a.m., a shoplifter stole a $211 pair of jeans from Elements in Miracle Mile. The thief concealed the jeans in her purse.

At 1:25 p.m., police caught a teenager with five ounces of marijuana, six lighters, two glass bongs, and two glass pipes in a vacant house in the 3500 block of Westminster Avenue.


DALLAS

Due to a records system change in the records at the Dallas Police Department, Dallas reports are unavailable this week. We are working with DPD to obtain relevant incident reports and hope to resume providing them soon.
