SMU Opens New Chi-O House This Month
“Chi Omega, you’ll agree, it’s the best sorority!” OK, now that the chants are out of my head, allow me to tell you that SMU is unveiling its new, Chi-Omega sorority house this month. I wasn’t a Chi-O, but a good number of my roommates (past and present) were, so I have a soft spot for the owls in my heart.
As an alum, I can tell you that the new Chi-O house is at the old Faculty Club site on “sorority row.” Pi-Phi and Tri-Delt recently underwent complete rebuilds/renovations as well, and Delta Gamma is in the middle of theirs now. I believe the old Chi-O spot will now be home to the new Faculty Club. Confused yet? Just drive down Daniel Avenue. It’ll make sense.
But I digress. Anyway, university president R. Gerald Turner and his lovely wife will host the ribbon cutting and donor reception on Friday, Aug. 22. The house will then be open for tours.
This fall, it will be home to 40 sorority women with all the usual amenities, but it will also be the only sorority house in Dallas with a “safe room.” Pretty cool. Congrats and a big “welcome home” to SMU Chi Omega!
