SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: He Thieves You When You’re Sleeping

Between 11 p.m. on July 22 and 6:30 a.m. on July 23, a thief entered an unlocked house in the 3500 block of Crescent Avenue and stole an iPad, a Dell laptop computer, and various other items. The homeowner was asleep at the time, and awakened to find lights on in the kitchen and backyard, doors left ajar, and evidence that the thief rummaged through drawers and cabinets. The miscreant also scattered items from three cars in the detached garage throughout the backyard, but it wasn’t immediately known if anything was stolen from the vehicles. A few minutes later, an officer found a bag from the house on the side of a street about a block away.


HIGHLAND PARK

21 MONDAY
At 2:45 p.m., a resident of the 4200 block of Beverly Drivereported the theft of a pair of platinum and 18-karat gold diamond earrings from the master bathroom between June 30 and July 2. There were contractors in the house at the time of the theft.
 
22 TUESDAY
At 3:15 p.m., a woman reported the theft of a leather belt with a silver buckle, valued at $898, from a shopping bag at 6 p.m. on July 18, while she was sitting inside Starbucks at Highland Park Village. The woman bought the belt moments earlier from Hermes.
 
At 10 p.m., Lee Don Vogt, 49, of DeSoto was arrested in the 4600 block of Westside Drive on a public intoxication charge.

23 WEDNESDAY
Between 10:30 p.m. on July 22 and 8:20 a.m. on July 23, a burglar broke into a gold 2006 Lexus GX470 in the 4300 block of Overhill Drive and stole a $200 Louis Vuitton wallet.
 
25 FRIDAY
Between 10 p.m. on July 24 and 5:30 a.m. on July 25, a thief entered an unlocked white 2011 GMC Sierra in the 4500 block of Arcady Avenue and stole a $350 Bradshaw knife, a $250 Swiss Army utility knife, and a $200 iPhone 5. The larcenist also stole a $15 Liftmaster garage-door opener from a gray 2005 Toyota 4Runner at the same address.
 
26 SATURDAY
At 6 a.m., Andrew Jefferson Dorsaneo, 21, of Dallas was arrested in the 3900 block of Lexington Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
 
At 10:43 p.m., Carlos Vonzell Underwood, 32, of Plano was arrested in the 5500 block of Preston Road on charges of possession of marijuana, running a red light, and driving with an invalid license.


UNIVERSITY PARK

21 MONDAY
At 9:55 a.m., a stranger asked to borrow a Samsung cell phone in the service road of the 6400 block of North Central Expressway, then attempted to drive off with the phone in a white 2006 Buick. The phone was later recovered.
 
At 5:22 p.m., a thief stole a $1,200 Louis Vuitton purse containing a $200 Louis Vuitton wallet from a white 2014 GMC Acadia atCoffee Park.
 
At 7:59 p.m., a shoplifter stole $7 worth of Glade fragrances from the CVS store at Park Cities Plaza. Corrie Hill, 34, of Dallas was arrested on a theft charge.
 
25 FRIDAY
Between 5:40 p.m. on July 24 and 7:40 a.m. on July 25, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $2,500, from a black 2008 Cadillac Escalade in the 4400 block of McFarlin Boulevard.
 
26 SATURDAY
At 8 p.m., Anthony Colangelo, 36, of Dallas was arrested in the3500 block of Lovers Lane on a public intoxication charge.
 
27 SUNDAY
At 3:20 a.m., a gold 2003 Toyota Camry crashed into a curb in the3800 block of University Boulevard. Tiffany Michele Schick, 22, of Little Elm was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
 
Between 6 p.m. on July 26 and 6 a.m. on July 27, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $2,455, from a black 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3600 block of Southwestern Boulevard.
