TCA Grad Wins Scholarship For Essay
Grant Wiley, a Preston Hollow resident who graduated this spring from Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship as part of the inaugural Horse Sense Essay Contest.
The contest was created by Preston Hollow investor Don Hodges and is centered on his book, Horse Sense, Street Smarts: A Common-Sense Collection of Quotes About Business and Life.
The contest was meant to encourage high school seniors and college students to read, contemplate, and write a short essay on the meaning behind quotes in the book.
Wiley, who will attend the University of Mississippi this fall, submitted an essay regarding his interpretation on the following quotes:
“The unexpected happens. You had better prepare for it.” — Margaret Thatcher
“Courage is what you have to do even though you are afraid.” — Rudy Giuliani
Wiley was one of five winners to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Submissions for the 2015 competition will be accepted from Sept. 1 through May 22.
