Tim Simenc, an incoming senior at St. Mark’s, became the first Texan chosen to compete in international water polo competition following a nine-month tryout process.

Simenc is one of only four players from outside California, a hotbed for water polo, who made the USA Water Polo Men’s Youth National Team. He also was named a first-team NISCA All-American.

The 6-foot-5 left-hander and his American teammates will face international competition at the Six Nations Tournament on July 16-20 in Acireale, Italy, and at the FINA Youth World Championships on Aug. 2-10 in Istanbul, Turkey.
