Mosquito Pool Tests Positive For West Nile in 75230
UPDATE (7/15):
Due to last night’s stormy weather conditions, spraying has been delayed until 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight and tomorrow night, weather permitting. Spraying cannot take place during rain or winds greater than 10 MPH.
Near the 6600 block of Brookshire Drive, a mosquito pool was confirmed positive for West Nile Virus. Therefore, this region is scheduled for mosquito-control spraying between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15. Generally, the area is bound by Azalea Lane, Tulane Boulevard, Airline Road, and Walnut Hill Lane.
The insecticide is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, but still, avoid contact by staying inside. Keep your windows up if you’re in the car. If you do come in contact with the spray, wash the affected area with soap and water. There are no residual effects.
As always, you can reduce your contact with mosquitoes by reducing outdoor activities in the evening and nighttime. If you are outside, be sure to grab some mosquito repellant. And don’t forget to eliminate standing water in pools, ponds, birdbaths, and the like.
