HPUMC Launches Rejebian Summer Series
It’s summer, so that means it’s time for Highland Park United Methodist’s Rejebian Summer Series. Tonight is the first installment. And, y’all, I want to sit in on every one of them.
This 50-year tradition is all thanks to Vahram and Ermance Rejebian. Each event takes place in Wesley Hall at 7 p.m. Take a look at the lineup:
6/4: Dr. Lurline Morrow, “In My Defense: Lady Nancy Astor” (lecture)
6/11: Richard Barry, “A Neil Diamond Tribute” (musical renditions)
6/18: Lynn Sherr, “Sally Ride: America’s First Woman in Space”
6/25: Karin Slaughter, “Coptown”
7/2: Sharron Lucky, “Doc” (written by Mary Doria Russell)
7/9: Joy Davis, “Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey”
7/16: Mary Booty, “The Women Who Wrote the War” (written by Nancy Caldwell Sorel)
7/23: Kathleen Cunningham, “Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit” (written by Hepburn’s son, Sean)
7/30: Rose Mary Rumbley, “Summer” (compilation including “One Summer: America, 1927” by Bill Bryson)
Whew! Wish I could make it to each one. Call 214-523-2240 if you’d like to attend the dinner before at 5:30, or just email the church to get more info.
