SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Picking Off The Toppings

Between 12:05 and 12:15 p.m. on April 30, a thief stole a $300 delivery car topper from a gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala at Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches in the
6400 block of Hillcrest Avenue.


HIGHLAND PARK

12 MONDAY
Between May 9 and May 12, a thief stole two copper downspouts, valued at $600, from a house in the 3700 block of Miramar Avenue.

At 3:47 p.m., a Highland Park man reported the theft of a Ruger LC-9 pistol from underneath the driver’s seat of a Cadillac sometime between April 28 and May 4. The car was parked by a valet at Highland Park Village at 8:50 p.m. on April 28, then was not driven again until May 4, at which time the driver noticed the firearm was missing while on his way to church.

13 TUESDAY
At 1 a.m., Sheridan Kate Dietrich, 28, of University Park was arrested in the 3400 block of Shenandoah Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

At 3:20 p.m., Cecil Devance III, 24, of Mesquite was arrested atHighland Park Village on charges of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

14 WEDNESDAY
At 6:31 p.m., a man reported the theft of a $650 iPad fromHighland Park Village on April 23. The man set the iPad next to his photography equipment on the sidewalk outside Bistro 31 at 5 p.m. on April 23, then noticed an hour later that it was missing.

15 THURSDAY
Between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m., a burglar broke into a tan 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe at Whole Foods Market in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive and stole a $700 touchscreen car stereo. The thief also caused $300 in damage to the door that was pried open.

At 9:53 a.m., a burglar broke into a white 2013 Ford F-250 pickup in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue and stole $9,000 in cash along with a lunch in a soft vinyl cooler. An employee of the truck’s owner spotted three Hispanic men in white T-shirts fleeing the location in a black Ford truck with large mud tires and chrome wheels.

Between 10:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., a vandal caused $600 in damage to the door of a guesthouse in the 4300 block of Edmondson Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen.

16 FRIDAY
Between 11:30 p.m. on May 15 and 7:15 a.m. on May 16, a thief stole two 10-foot copper downspouts from a house in the 3500 block of Lexington Avenue.

17 SATURDAY
At 3:58 a.m., Bryan Gregory Barton, 30, of Houston was arrested in the 4600 block of Belclaire Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

At 4:46 a.m., Donnie Wayne McClure, 46, of Dallas was arrested in the 4400 block of Beverly Drive on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

At 3 p.m., a man reported the theft of a 9-foot copper downspout, valued at $400, sometime during the previous week from a house in the 3600 block of Euclid Avenue.


UNIVERSITY PARK

13 TUESDAY
Between 3:40 and 4 p.m., a thief stole a wallet containing $30 in cash along with a $20 credit-card holder and an SMU school ID from an unlocked gray 2014 Toyota Camry at Snider Plaza.

15 THURSDAY
Between 11 p.m. on May 14 and 6 a.m. on May 15, a vandal caused $150 in damage by spray-painting graffiti on a wall of the parking garage at Highland Park High School. A similar incident happened the following night during the same hours.

16 FRIDAY
At 11:44 a.m., Sedrick Eugene Mays, 48, of Terrell was arrested in the 3100 block of Lovers Lane on an aggravated assault charge.

At 5:28 p.m., Courtney Carlisle Smith, 31, of Dallas was arrested in the 3600 block of Granada Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

17 SATURDAY
Between 4 and 8 p.m., a thief stole a $2,000 tailgate off a tan 2009 Chevrolet Silverado in the 5800 block of Auburndale Avenue.

Between 9:45 and 10 p.m., a thief stole a $900 Villy Beach Cruiser bicycle from the front yard of a house in the 4200 block of Colgate Avenue. The bike was recovered at 12:36 p.m. the following day in the 4300 block of University Boulevard, and was returned to its owner.

18 SUNDAY
Between 6 p.m. on May 17 and 10:54 a.m. on May 18, a burglar broke into a white Lexus GX470 in the 4400 block of Grassmere Lane and stole an $800 Versace purse, a $40 gift card, and $15 in cash.


DALLAS

12 MONDAY
At 3:54 a.m., a burglar broke into a white 2014 Jeep at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of McKinney Avenue and stole a $1,000 Lenovo laptop computer, a $200 laptop bag, a $200 Kindle Fire, a $100 pair of women’s shoes, and a $50 Couch wallet.

At 4:15 p.m., a shoplifter stole $56 worth of body mist and $38 worth of shower gel from Bath and Body Works at NorthPark Center. Cassandra Jean Timmons, 53, was arrested on charges of theft and failure to identify.

13 TUESDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on May 12 and 7:30 a.m. on May 13, a thief stole the $500 front grill off a black 2006 Volkswagen sedan at a parking garage in the 4200 block of Holland Avenue.

At 9:40 a.m., a thief stole a $500 Echo backpack blower from the bed of a white 1994 Chevrolet pickup at a restaurant in the 4100 block of North Central Expressway. The thief put the blower into the bed of a red 2004 Dodge pickup and fled.

14 WEDNESDAY
At 3:20 p.m., a shoplifter stole three pairs of denim shorts, valued at $90, along with a $50 pair of jeans from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. Brian Larry Alexander, 50, was arrested on a theft charge.

Between 4 and 4:50 p.m., a thief stole a $50 Vera Bradley clutch from an unlocked white 2008 Chevrolet SUV at Northway Christian Church.

Between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m., a burglar broke into a white 2010 Hyundai sedan at NorthPark Center and stole a $200 Motorola headset, a $100 pair of Nike women’s shoes, a $100 iPhone 4S, two Michael Kors shirts valued at $100, a $70 pair of men’s jeans, a $50 hardcover suitcase, a $50 Under Armour women’s hoodie, a $50 shaving kit, and a $20 Eastpak backpack.

15 THURSDAY
At 3:34 a.m., an argument led to a man throwing steak knives at a woman and threatening to kill her at an apartment in the 4200 block of Gilbert Avenue. The victim told police the man also placed his hands around her neck and pushed her down some stairs before he fled.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., a burglar broke into a house in the 5400 block of Druid Lane and stole $2,000 worth of jewelry, a $1,000 MacBook computer, and a $500 Dell laptop.

Between 7 and 9:30 p.m., a burglar broke into a 2000 Honda sedan at an apartment complex in the 4100 block of McKinney Avenue and stole $150 worth of shoes, $50 worth of gym clothes, and a $25 gym bag.

16 FRIDAY
Between 10 p.m. on May 15 and 6 a.m. on May 16, a burglar broke into a white 2011 Volvo SUV in the 4500 block of McKinney Avenue and stole a $50 Tommy Hilfiger tote bag with sandals.

Between 9 p.m. on May 15 and 9 a.m. on May 16, a burglar broke into a red 2004 BMW coupe in the 4600 block of McKinney Avenue and stole a $2,000 Lenovo ThinkPad computer, a $700 iPad 3, a $500 Prada bag, and a $200 pair of sunglasses.

Between 10 p.m. on May 15 and 10 a.m. on May 16, a burglar broke into a black 2009 Chevrolet sedan in the 3100 block of Monticello Avenue and stole a $1,200 computer, a $100 computer bag, and assorted personal papers.

At 1 p.m., a shoplifter stole a set of Anolon pots and pans, valued at $191, from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. The thief took some return labels from behind a cash register in an attempt to get money for the cookware. William Eldon Bilby, 50, was arrested on a theft charge.

At 1:15 p.m., a shoplifter stole $68 worth of socks and a $25 pack of boxer briefs from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. Savannah Dinesha Dunn, 17, was arrested on charges of theft and public intoxication.

Between 6 and 7:30 p.m., a burglar broke into a silver 2010 Ford pickup outside a restaurant in the 4300 block of West Northwest Highway and stole a $700 iPad, a $300 Kel-Tec .380-caliber handgun, a $100 leather wallet, and a checkbook.

17 SATURDAY
Between 3:50 and 4:30 p.m., a burglar broke into an apartment in the 3200 block of Cambrick Street and stole a $210 Novara bicycle.

Between 4 and 5 p.m., a burglar broke into a black 2010 Lexus SUV in the 4500 block of Park Lane and stole a $900 Louis Vuitton purse, a cosmetics bag and contents valued at $325, a $65 Coach purse, and a $65 wallet.

At 8:30 p.m., a motorcyclist caused $1,500 in damage to a glass window at Wizard’s Vapor Bar & Smoke Shop in the 3200 block of Fitzhugh Avenue.

18 SUNDAY
At 12:43 p.m., a thief embezzled $630 from a safe inside Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop at Preston Center.

Between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., a thief stole a tan 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, valued at $7,000, at NorthPark Center.
