Branch Wins County, Loses State Election For AG

University Park resident Dan Branch, who has served as the state representative for House District 108 for more than a decade, lost to Ken Paxton in last night’s primary election for attorney general. Statewide, Branch got just over 36 percent of the vote while Paxton got 64, but in Dallas County, it was a different story — Branch got roughly 51 percent of the vote, while Paxton got 49 percent. What a close call.

Branch ran a desperate and ugly campaign. A true poster child for term limits.

Disagree- Paxton needed to be called out on the carpet for his blatant disregard of the law. Dan Branch was a fine state rep and would have made an excellent AG.

The statewide nominations of Paxton and Dan Patrick will be bad, bad news long term for the GOP here in Texas. Two ideologues with no real ideas or solutions who will only pander to Cruz and the extreme right while further alienating moderates and independents. News flash for the tea party crazies: check the demographic trends- Texas will be getting considerably less conservative in the years to come. We just did the Democrats a huge favor last night, unfortunately. While it will be fun watching Wendy Davis and the rest of the statewide Dems get blasted this November, 2018 may be a different story entirely.

Term limits? He wasn’t running for re-election, he was running for AG.
