We’re Nearing The End of Early Voting

Today and tomorrow are the last two days to vote early in the primary runoff elections; Tuesday is Election Day.

If you want to look up your voter registration, go here. If you need to look up your precinct, go here. To look up early voting locations, go here. (Early voting for HD 108 takes place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.)

As you all know from the fliers and mailers, Morgan Meyer and Chart Westcott are both in the running to be the Republican candidate for Dan Branch’s vacated, HD-108 seat. The winner of that race will take on Democratic candidate Leigh Bailey in November.

Other races to note:

Dan Patrick vs. David Dewhurst for Lieutenant Governor

Dan Branch vs. Ken Paxton for Attorney General

Now, get informed and go do your civic duty!

It really has been fun watching Chart Westcott’s campaign skid off the rails these past few weeks. People will not soon forget his lack of decency and integrity, and it will follow him around town for years after this embarrassing defeat. Fortunately for the rest of us, Tuesday’s political burial will mark the last day he is ever relevant as a candidate in Dallas-area Republican politics.

Maybe his old pal Jerry Brown could get him setup with the Democrats in California, though? Never too late to teach an old dog new tricks!

Real, you sound bitter. Most likely Chart will end up losing but boy, you will live a longer life if you are not so angry. Throughout this election, your posts contain bad karma. Hope your life is going ok.

I have been absolutely appalled by the Chart Westcott campaign. I hope gets trounced royally in the runoff. I don’t know if he will have the intelligence to understand why he lost, but the rest of us will. I cannot conceive that anyone would condone the things he has done. I don’t even have words for how poorly I think of him. I am grateful that finally there are other well-known folks around town who are willing to defect and say so publicly. It will take him a long time to live down what he has done. It really might be best if he leaves Dallas. His campaign is the prime example of what you should not do and demonstrates the absolute worst side of politics. It’s been disgusting.

    Purdue,

I’m opposed to unqualified candidates with bizarre senses of entitlement being elected within the political party I’m a member of. That is why I have opposed Chart Westcott’s candidacy from the early stages.

As for your comment about karma, I don’t think I’ve said anything about Chart Westcott that is untrue or not fair game to be raised about a candidate seeking to represent thousands of people in public office.

It’s too bad Court Alley couldn’t beat Chart back in March- a Court v. Morgan race would have given the voters in HD 108 an actual choice between two qualified and competent individuals. With that said, Morgan Meyer will do a fine job representing us, just as Dan Branch has done.

Another Mother- absolutely agree. Chart’s campaign has done nothing but lower the level of political discourse and reinforce in the minds of many the concept that politics is dirty and sleazy. I’ll be interested to see if he even matches his March 4 total of 30% in the runoff next week. I’ve talked to many people around town (including former Westcott supporters) who now share your sentiment.

I was also disgusted when Dan Patrick’s medical records were brought to the public’s attention. Low, low, low. Awful and unspeakable. There are just some things I will never understand. How someone can live with themselves after doing this kind of thing is beyond me. Winning this way is not a win.

If you voted in the Democratic primary, please, please be sure to vote in the Senate run-off. This vote will determine who runs against John Cornyn. It’s either Dr. David Alameel, a respected businessman, or Kesha Rogers, a Larouchian who has been disavowed by the Texas Democratic Party.

    You stay classy, Chart.

I was going to say, “your parents would be so proud” sarcastically, but then I realized that they are funding this and probably are.

My previous biggest beef with Chart was that he hadn’t accomplished anything in life, and was too inexperienced to lead, which while it would lead me not to vote for him, was not an indictment on him as a person. Now it’s that he is totally without scruples. I will soon forget who won this race, but I will remember the stench associated with his actions when someone mentions Chart Westcott.

What I don’t understand is someone who wants to be in politics so early in life, why would you commit political suicide with the style of campaign that you ran? You make the road back to good graces of the public that much harder after this election for the next one you may seek.

Flyers and mailers from Meyer and Westcott? Why I haven’t received any.

Chart’s style of campaigning worked for Huffines, our new state senator, so the Westcott family thought the same style would work here. Chart’s brother, Court?, was at the polls yesterday and displays indignance when asked about the negative campaign. He pushes back and asks what’s not truthful. When shown evidence, like Bracewell Guiliani isn’t a “trial lawyer firm”, he gets irate and dismisses the voter. It’s not just Chart I guess.

I can’t wait for this to be over. I come home every night to three or four robocall voice mails from Chart Westcott and a mailbox full of flyers that go straight to recycling. Before the runoff I didn’t have a strong opinion about any of the candidates (other than that the least unappealing one lost the first round), but I look forward to voting against the entitled fat faced guy who fills up my mailboxes – both voice and snail – with junk and whose dad is trying to buy him a seat. May he soon retreat into well-deserved, if very comfortable, oblivion.
