SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Picking Off The Toppings

Between 12:05 and 12:15 p.m. on April 30, a thief stole a $300 delivery car topper from a gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala at Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches in the
6400 block of Hillcrest Avenue.


HIGHLAND PARK

28 MONDAY
Between 10 p.m. on April 27 and noon on April 28, a thief entered two unlocked vehicles in the 3800 block of Maplewood Avenue and stole a combined $30 in cash from both center consoles. The vehicles include a black 1999 Mercedes S320 and a silver 2002 GMC Yukon, both belonging to the same owner.
29 TUESDAY
At 11:33 a.m., a man dropped off a Ka-Bar knife and sheath at the Highland Park Department of Public Safety. He told police he found the knife, which appeared to have dried blood on it, along Mockingbird Lane between Douglas and Armstrong.

30 WEDNESDAY
Between 8 a.m. on April 29 and 3:15 p.m. on April 30, a thief stole a $400 Trek mountain bike from a rack in the 5200 block of Byron Avenue, near Armstrong Elementary School.

4 SUNDAY
At 11:13 a.m., an officer stopped an unlicensed teenager for driving erratically in a black 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier in the 5400 block of Abbott Avenue. The officer smelled alcohol coming from the car, but it originated from a spilled petroleum product in the back seat. Still, there were several unopened bottles and cans of beer in the car, which led to a citation for minor in possession. The driver also struck a silver 2013 Ford Escape when upon pulling over, causing a scratch to the bumper. The Cavalier was towed, and the beer was “destroyed at the scene,” according to a police report.


UNIVERSITY PARK

28 MONDAY
At 4 p.m., two shoplifters stole a $73 Bella Luxx shirt and a $68 pair of Free People pants from the Hemline store in Miracle Mile. They fled in a blue Toyota Land Cruiser.Between 2:30 and 5 p.m., a thief stole a $300 gold necklace from a house in the 3400 block of Haynie Avenue. A housekeeping service was inside the house at the time of the theft.
29 TUESDAY
Between 5 and 7 p.m., a thief stole an $800 iPhone 5S and $200 in cash from a locker at Park Cities YMCA.
30 WEDNESDAY
Between 10 and 11:45 a.m., a burglar broke into a white 2012 Honda Civic at Park Cities YMCA and stole a bag of purses valued at $50.
1 THURSDAY
At 1:20 a.m., a shoplifter stole $105 worth of cosmetics and a flat iron from the CVS store at Park Cities Plaza. Rodolfo Macias Jr., 26, of Dallas was arrested on a theft charge.At 5:53 a.m., a vandal caused $1,000 in damage to the glass front door of Preston Road Pharmacy in the 6900 block of Preston Road. At 10:56 p.m., John Daniel Muse, 43, of Dallas was arrested in the4000 block of Shenandoah Avenue on a public intoxication charge.

2 FRIDAY
Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., a thief stole a $90 Weber grill and $85 worth of grilling accessories from a backyard in the 4200 block of Caruth Boulevard.At 10:49 p.m., a 17-year-old athlete at Highland Park High School was arrested in the 4000 block of Villanova Drive on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.

3 SATURDAY
At 8:15 p.m., Ryan David Arndt, 22, of Houston was arrested in the3400 block of McFarlin Boulevard on a public intoxication charge.

At 10:30 p.m., Jennifer Doolan Petty, 42, of University Park was arrested in the 3600 block of Binkley Avenue on a public intoxication charge.


DALLAS

28 MONDAY
Between 12:30 and 2:25 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2001 Cadillac sedan in the 4500 block of McKinney Avenue and stole a $1,000 Gucci tote bag, a $500 Blackberry unit, $150 worth of perfume, and a $40 alligator-print bag.

Between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., a thief entered an open garage in the 6100 block of Bordeaux Avenue and stole a $350 Bushnell range finder, a $300 set of Adams golf clubs, a $200 Milwaukee drill set, a $100 golf bag, and a $25 Husky tool bag.

At 4 p.m., a thief stole a red 2000 Porsche convertible, valued at $15,000, in the 3100 block of Elizabeth Street.

Between 8:40 and 8:50 p.m., a thief stole a $1,000 mobile credit-card device from Victoria’s Secret at NorthPark Center.

29 TUESDAY
At 3:20 a.m., a troublemaker pointed a semi-automatic handgun at a man in the 4900 block of West Mockingbird Lane. The victim said he recognized the gunman from high school, at which point the instigator responded, “Oh, sorry, I thought you were the guy that beat up my cousin at Club Rio.” The perpetrator fled with three or four other people in a black GMC Yukon with tinted windows and a cracked windshield.

At 11:57 a.m., two robbers stole about $1,000 worth of children’s clothing from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. A store employee chased stopped the two miscreants while they were walking out of the store with the stolen merchandise before one of them flashed a handgun in his waistband. The two thieves then fled in a green 2005 Isuzu SUV driven by an accomplice.

30 WEDNESDAY
Between 6:30 p.m. on April 29 and 7 a.m. on April 30, a thief stole $1,300 worth of shingles from the front yard of a house under construction in the 5600 block of Southwestern Boulevard.

At 1 p.m., two shoplifters stole a $345 pair of Gucci sunglasses and a $315 pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses from Macy’s atNorthPark Center. Malissa Garcia, 29, and Romona Rodriguez, 21, were each arrested on theft charges.

Between 7:45 and 8:45 p.m., a burglar broke into a black 2004 Toyota coupe at NorthPark Center and stole a $1,000 iPad with keyboard, a $500 Michael Kors purse, and a Kenneth Cole tote bag.

1 THURSDAY
Between 10 and 10:35 a.m., a burglar broke into a blue 2003 Ford pickup truck in the 5000 block of North Central Expressway and stole a $328 Garmin GPS unit and a $280 pair of Serengeti sunglasses.

At 4:25 p.m., two shoplifters stole clothing from various retailers, and were rude to store employees at NorthPark Center. By the time the boorish thieves were detained by security personnel, they had accumulated almost $570 worth of clothes from Crewcuts, Express, Peek, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and Gap Kids. Victoria Renee Smith, 27, and Bianca Sharay Johnson, 25, were each arrested on multiple theft charges.

At 5:09 p.m., a shoplifter stole three Gucci shirts, valued at $1,090, from Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center. Gerrick Anthony Hawthorne, 29, was arrested on a theft charge.

2 FRIDAY
Between 7:30 p.m. on May 1 and 10 a.m. on May 2, a burglar broke into a white 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 5100 block of Purdue Avenue and stole $500 worth of adult and baby clothes, a $179 baby stroller, a $125 baby safety gate, and $120 worth of baby formula.

Between 7:15 a.m. and 2 p.m., a thief stole a green 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle, valued at $3,600, in the 3600 block of Prescott Avenue.

At 2:20 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $150 Nike FuelBand bracelet from the Apple store at NorthPark Center. Dominick M. Ferran, 18, was arrested on a theft charge.

At 3:30 p.m., two shoplifters stole $210 worth of jewelry, a $59 pair of shorts, and a $14 pair of socks from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. Brecham Ford, 21, and Detrik Johnson, 19, were each arrested on theft charges.

At 5:15 p.m., two shoplifters stole $440 worth of clothing from Urban Outfitters at NorthPark Center. Two juveniles were arrested on theft charges.

Between 6:20 and 9:30 p.m., a thief stole a black 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck, valued at $20,000, at NorthPark Center.

3 SATURDAY
Between 2 a.m. and noon, a vandal shattered a window at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood restaurant in the 4000 block of Oak Lawn Avenue, causing $3,000 worth of damage.

At 2:45 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $140 cover-up, a $120 swimsuit, and a $79 skirt from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. Jessica Madison Clouse, 19, was arrested on a theft charge.

4 SUNDAY
At 3 a.m., an officer found 10.7 grams of cocaine, as well as two pipes and other accessories, in a white 2010 Mercedes sedan during an accident investigation at an apartment complex in the3300 block of Blackburn Street.

At 12:40 p.m., three shoplifters stole 11 pairs of sunglasses, valued at $3,850, from Sunglass Hut at NorthPark Center.
