HP Alum Plays Lacrosse at Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field in Chicago is one of the most hallowed baseball stadiums in the country, but on Saturday, it hosted a rare women’s lacrosse game that included an appearance by Park Cities native Haydyn Anigian.
It was the first-ever women’s collegiate sporting event at the “friendly confines,” and the first lacrosse game at the stadium in more than 90 years. Anigian, who graduated from Highland Park High School in 2011, plays for Northwestern, which defeated USC 12-7 in the historic game that allowed players to share the Chicago Cubs locker room and walk through the clubhouse tunnel on the way to the field.
Anigian and the Wildcats, who won a women’s national title in 2012, will begin postseason play this week when they host the American Lacrosse Conference Championships in Evanston, Ill.
