Female bonding was the theme as Highland Park author Melanie Ross Mills attended a book signing party for her book, The Friendship Bond, on April 24 at Blue Print in Uptown.

The party was organized by a store employee who attended a Life Bonds group, led by Melanie, which practices many of the teachings in the book. Proceeds from the event went to New Friends New Life, a nonprofit that helps to empower women who were trafficked or sexually exploited as girls.

The evening also featured the awarding of the 2013 Bond Girl to Liz Miller, who was nominated by longtime friend Wendy Zogg. The trophy — a custom-designed necklace with a diamond bead created by The Rebecca Hallam Collection — was accompanied by flowers and a goodie bag. The award is given to a friend for her loyalty, love, and trustworthiness.
