Church to Host Abortion-Rights Event

If you live near First Unitarian Church of Dallas, you should know that it will be hosting an event this evening related to the always hot-button issue of abortion.

Sarah Weddington, who successfully argued Roe vs. Wade before the Supreme Court, will receive the “Faith Voices for Reproductive Justice Award” from the Texas Freedom Network and Brite Divinity School. Also receiving the award will be First Unitarian’s Women’s Alliance, a group of church women who, in 1968, took up the cause of abortion rights in conjunction with women from Temple Emanu-El. That synagogue’s Rabbi David Stern will present the awards.

Tonight’s event, which will begin at 7, is free and open to the public. Scheduled speakers include:

  • The Rev. Daniel Kanter, senior minister of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas and member of the national board of Planned Parenthood
  • Sarah Hutchinson, domestic program director of Catholics for Choice
  • Lucy Carreon, a former employee of Whole Woman’s Health, a McAllen clinic that closed last month in the wake of House Bill 2 becoming law

That law requires doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. The doctors at Whole Woman’s Health were not able to obtain such privileges, so the clinic could no longer provide abortions legally.

Celebrating the slaughter of defenseless unborn children. Disgusting.

I agree, Real McCoy. Instead, we should celebrate crack babies, unwanted children who will probably end up abused, neglected, and have babies when they’re ill equipped to handle them. Let’s celebrate welfare, food stamps, Medicaid and poverty, too. And, while we’re at it, let’s lift up the women who were raped and became pregnant as a result or might not survive the pregnancy. Oh, and how many babies have you adopted, Real McCoy? Because adoption is such a better option, we should all do our part and adopt the baby (who got terrible or no prenatal care and might have serious health issues) we saved from being born. What’s that saying, “A chicken in every pot?” Let’s have an adopted baby in every home. Celebrate indeed!

Thank you, Real McCoy, for having the guts to speak the truth. As for Fake McQueen and The Ladies, so glad you all are clairvoyant and as such have found a way to justify the murder of innocent children. Hooray for asinine liberal “logic.” And the irony is apparently lost on you, Fake McQueen — those welfare/food stamp/Medicare/impoverished folks you mentioned are the very ones your party solicits to fatten your already bloated voter rolls. Why on earth would you advocate killing them off? Hysterical.

For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! (Psalm 139:13-17 ASV)

Sire McCoy and Lady Genevive, It escapes no one in the Park Cities Kingdom that “defenseless unborn children” and “innocent children” require only your outrage. Rage against the injustice of it all until they are born. Then, quiety turn your back on them, the peasantry you so vocally supported, until they took their first breath.

How very noble of you. Hazzah!

Absolute truth is the real argument….if you don’t believe in absolute truth it will be hard to convince you that God values all life and hates the killing of innocent babies. Reason? If you don’t believe in absolute truth you create your own truth…most of the time to create the highest level of comfort for your life. What is truth to you?

The question is loaded as truth is absolute….in the end the real answer is it doesn’t matter what I think is true or you think is true if it is truth is absolute.
