Highland Park graduate Will Miller and the rest of the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers will open the NCAA tournament at 5:30 p.m. tonight when they face Albany in a preliminary-round game in Dayton, Ohio.

Miller, a freshman, has been a valuable contributor this season for the Mountaineers (16-16), who scored an upset over Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference championship game last week to earn the school’s first tournament berth since 2008.

The winner between MSM and Albany — which is nicknamed the Great Danes, by the way — will face top-seeded Florida in the South Regional second round on Thursday in Orlando, Fla.

Miller has played in every game this season for MSM. He is averaging 5.1 points per game and has made 48 three-pointers.

He’s not the only HPHS alumnus who will be enjoying March Madness. James Fraschilla is a junior at Oklahoma, which meets North Dakota State in its opening game on Thursday in Spokane, Wash. His younger brother, Matt, is a freshman at Harvard, which will play Cincinnati earlier that same day, also in Spokane.
