Yavneh Falls in TAPPS State Quarterfinals
The boys basketball team from Yavneh Academy fell one win short of a trip to the state tournament in its first season back in TAPPS.
The Bulldogs lost to defending state champion Lubbock Christian 59-54 on Tuesday in a TAPPS 3A state quarterfinal game in Abilene. The defeat snapped a 16-game winning streak for Yavneh, which hadn’t lost since Dec. 7.
Still, it capped an impressive 32-5 campaign for the small Jewish school on Merit Drive, which scored postseason victories over Irving Highlands and Frisco Legacy Christian prior to Tuesday’s loss.
