Scots Win District, Await Playoff Opponent
This much we know: Highland Park is the outright winner of the District 10-4A boys basketball title.
What we don’t know is when or where the Scots will play their bi-district playoff game, or even who they will meet.
The Scots (27-4, 13-1) closed out the regular season with a 66-42 road win over North Forney on Tuesday to finish one game ahead of Carrollton Newman Smith in the final 10-4A standings. Derek Cahn paced HP with 18 points, while Clayton Murtha and Scottie Scheffler added 12 apiece.
That means HP will play the fourth-place team from District 9-4A in the first round of the playoffs. But it’s likely that will involve some sort of tiebreaker between Frisco and Frisco Liberty, who will be knotted in third place if Liberty defeats last-place Little Elm tonight.
Whatever tiebreaker procedure is decided upon, the Scots will face the lower seed of those two. The bi-district game will be on Monday or Tuesday at a time and site to be determined.
