Scots Will Put Pen to Paper on Signing Day
As usual, Highland Park High School will be buzzing tomorrow on National Signing Day, when some of the top senior athletes around the country sign college letters of intent in selected sports.
Two football players will be signing for HP — offensive lineman Tony Richards (SMU) and defensive lineman Andrew Clyde (University of Richmond) — during a ceremony at 2:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Several girls soccer signees also will put pen to paper, including Sara Summers (Texas Tech), D.K. Manley (SMU), Rachel O’Neal (Missouri University of Science and Technology), Jordan Bethea (Trinity University), and Abby Tisdale (Trinity University). On the boys side, Dawson French also will sign with Trinity.
Tennis player Hunter Holman will be honored for signing with Texas Tech. Meanwhile, standout distance runner Natalie Rathjen will compete next year at Princeton, which does not offer athletic scholarships. The signing day for track and field athletes also is Wednesday.
Other athletes could be last-minute additions to the festivities, so there’s a chance this list isn’t complete.
