Highland Park Seeks Full-Time Librarian

Librarian Bonnie Case, who puts a particular emphasis on children’s programming at the Highland Park Library, has been on the job long enough to serve multiple generations of the town’s youngest readers.

Do you like books? Do you have a master’s degree in library science? Would you like to work close to home?

If you answered yes to all three questions, then I have an opportunity for you. Highland Park is looking to hire a second full-time librarian. Bonnie Case, who’s been the town’s librarian as long as I’ve been alive, told me a part-time employee recently retired, and that open position has been upgraded to a full-time gig.

“This will be the first time the library has hired a second person with a Master of Library Science — at least during the past 50-plus years,” Case said. “Not sure about 1930 to ’60 or so.”

The salary range will depend on the applicant’s qualifications is $88,000 to $115,000. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go torment myself about never getting a master’s degree.
