Highland Park High School head football coach Randy Allen has received the Grant Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Allen, who was honored Monday at the American Football Coaches Association convention in Indianapolis, has led the Scots to a 174-21 record over 15 seasons. His career record is 327-80-6 going back to his first head-coaching gig at Ballinger High School in 1981.

Almost a 90% winning record while at HP. Pretty impressive. Great job. I still think his greatest win at HP was his first game against Garland.

@really – Interesting you think that was the greatest win. It had nothing to do with coaching but rather luck. The Garland punter caught a low snap by putting his knee to the ground rendering him down around their 25 yardline. Then Coach Allen called the same play 3 times in a row, a fade to the corner that finally hit.
I would have said that Stephenville State semi-final game with Stafford vs Jevon Snead or the first game that playoff year with Stafford vs Texarkana and Ryan Mallet.

I agree with @really. The Garland game is the most memorable in my mind since it was his first game and winning in the last second (yes, after the Garland punter screwed up) against a 5A team that never lost again that season. Those other games @Interesting Thought mentioned were also phenomenal games, but if you discount the Garland because it wasn’t “coaching” I think you can discount every Stafford win because who wouldn’t have won with the ridiculous caliber of talent on those teams.
