Lady Scots players and coaches put aside their bats and gloves last month to sort toys as part of a holiday toy drive.

The Highland Park softball team won’t start the season for several weeks, but it recently spent some time in the community spreading holiday cheer for a good cause.

Several players and coaches for the Lady Scots spent the morning of Dec. 14 sorting toys for the Community Partners of Dallas holiday toy drive. CPD is a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to case workers from Dallas County Child Protective Services, who help abused and neglected children.

HP will start practice for the upcoming season on Jan. 17, and will open its nondistrict schedule on Feb. 11 at Rockwall-Heath.
