You’re Supposed to Leave Money on Trolleys

The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority is a nonprofit enterprised financed by sponsors and donations. All trolley rides — aside from charters — are free. That’s why it was especially sorry when two riders stole the donation box from a trolley as it was turning around yesterday evening at Uptown Station. As far as I can tell, this was the first crime reported by the transit authority all year. Merry freakin’ Christmas.

The incident report did not include a description. It didn’t even specify that there were two suspects. That was an assumption on my part, because it said only that there were multiple suspects. It could have been a quartet for all I know.
