Yeah, sure, we all know how well the Highland Park football and basketball teams are doing this semester. But what about the Ultimate Frisbee squad? The Scots spent two November weekends competing against the top teams in Texas.

The first matches took place at Pearce High School in Richardson the weekend of Nov. 9. In their first game, Highland Park faced longtime rival Flower Mound Marcus. The Scots started slow but hit their stride and won, 13-11. They then rolled past defending state champion Coppell, 12-6, and Pearce, 13-2.

A week later, the Scots rolled into the Elite 8 Tournament in Waco, which matched the top four teams from North Texas against the top four teams from across the state. Highland Park started strong by defeating Austin Liberal Arts and Science Academy, 13-1, and fought off a comeback from Kingwood with a 13-10 victory. They went on to beat St. Thomas, 13-2, and Belton, 13-4.

The Scots’ next game isn’t until after Christmas, so they have time to sit back and bask in the glow of their red-hot Frisbees.
