Rathjen Wins Region II Championship
Highland Park did not bring home a team title at Saturday’s Class 4A Region II championship, but senior Natalie Rathjen won her second individual regional championship by pacing the field with a time of 17:59.
As a team, the three-time defending Class 4A state champion Lady Scots finished second to Mansfield Legacy, which had 97 points. Highland Park, which had won four straight regional championships, finished with 98 points.
The Running Scots, who had won three straight regional championships, also finished second to Frisco Wakeland. Both teams still qualified for Saturday’s state meet in Round Rock. Rico Lara was the top runner for the boys. He took 10th place with a time of 16:21.
