Patricia Marie Mills Hutcheson
Patricia Marie Mills Hutcheson, 82, of Dallas and Chattanooga, Tenn., died peacefully at home Oct. 22 surrounded by her family and closest friends. Born in Selma, Ala., and raised in Chattanooga, she graduated from Girls Preparatory School and attended Mount Vernon College.
She is predeceased by her parents, Olan and Mary Mills; her ex-husband, Skip Hutcheson; her son Travis Hutcheson; her grandson Warren Hutcheson; and her brother C.G. Mills. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Lewis Hutcheson and Jill Liao of Dallas, Laura Hutcheson and Camille Cook of Austin, Jim and Sarah Hutcheson of Dallas, and Henry and Kirsten Hutcheson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four grandchildren, Nathan Hutcheson of Dallas, Lucy Lu of Dallas, and Oskar and Avery Hutcheson of Chapel Hill; her brother Olan II and Norma Mills of Chattanooga; and her sister, Sharon Mills of Chattanooga. The family wishes to acknowledge lifelong friends Janice Richardson, Greg Rohde, and Marina Monterrosa of Dallas and the staff of the Warrington Condominiums.
Patricia was a longtime patron of education, the arts, and clean environment. She loved international travel, most recently spending a summer in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Patricia was an avid reader and lifelong learner engaged in post-graduate studies in Cambridge, England; at Dartmouth University; and at the Jungian Institute in Switzerland. She loved playing with and caring for her two Maltese dogs, Macho and Baby Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patricia’s name to the Caron Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dallas, St. Phillips Academy in Dallas, and the Dallas Opera.
Dr. Don Benton will officiate a funeral service at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel at 3 p.m. on Oct. 27, with burial to follow.
