Highland Park volleyball head coach Michael Dearman recorded his 500th career win on Friday night as the Lady Scots swept Terrell, 25-5, 25-7, 25-4, at Highlander Field House.

“At the game Friday night, I was very touched and surprised when I saw so many of my former players there, including those from my very first win 18 years ago,” Dearman said. “The relationships that I have made over the years with players, parents, and coaches has meant the most to me. I am proud of winning 500 matches, but the friendships forged and positive impact on other people’s lives has been the most rewarding part.”

The Lady Scots (25-6, 3-0) have swept all three of their District 10-4A matches. Highland Park will host West Mesquite at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dearman is in his 10th season at Highland Park. His career record is 500-187.

“All coaches have memorable moments and milestones throughout their careers, but 500 victories places Coach Dearman in elite company,” HPISD Athletic Director Johnny Ringo said. “These victories represent an outstanding career and a dedication to winning with class, integrity, and character.  We appreciate all that Coach Dearman has done for Highland Park volleyball, his players, and our community.”
