Highland Park Rumbles Past Sherman in Non-District Play
Highland Park wrapped up non-district play with a lopsided 49-7 victory over Sherman on Friday night at Highlander Stadium.
The Scots (2-1) dominated both sides of the ball, as the offense tallied four rushing touchdowns, and the defense held the Bearcats (1-2) to just 180 yards of total offense. Highland Park also scored on special teams when defensive lineman Jack Ceverha picked up a blocked punt and scored from 29 yards out.
“It’s a dream,” Ceverha said. “It’s a constant dream. What I was thinking when I got the ball was: 1. I didn’t want to fumble it, and 2. I didn’t want to be remembered as the guy who got tackled, so I just kept going.”
Cole Feigl rushed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 17 carries.
The Scots have a bye next week to get ready for their District 10-4A opener at Forney on Sept. 26.
