Scheffler Will Play in 2014 Byron Nelson
Following in Jordan Spieth’s footsteps is a pretty good plan. And Highland Park rising senior Scottie Scheffler seems to have it down pat.
After winning the United States Golf Association’s Junior Amateur Open last weekend in California, Scheffler received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the 2014 HP Byron Nelson Championship. Speith, a two-time winner of the U.S. Amateur who is currently on the PGA Tour, played in the Nelson twice while still attending Jesuit High School.
Scheffler, who is ranked No. 1 in the Polo Golf rankings, has won two straight Class 4A state titles, helping the Scots to a team title last season. Scheffler has also committed to play at the University of Texas. Spieth helped the Longhorns win an NCAA championship during his one year at the school.
The 2014 Byron Nelson is May 12-18.
