Burglars Target Vehicles With Bags Left Inside
Here’s a look at some of the crimes that happened in your ‘hood this week. I noticed a trend of car burglaries involving purses that had been left in plain sight on the vehicle’s front seats. Ladies (and gentleman!) — please take your bags in with you — it only takes five minutes for a burglar to break in and steal your stuff.
At around 4 p.m. on July 23, a burglar broke into a gray 2008 Acura SUV at a post office in the 8600 block of Turtle Creek Boulevard and stole a $100 purse containing a $400 pair of glasses, a $150 wallet, 10 credit cards, and five blank checks. The victim had left the purse in plain sight on the front seat.
Between 4:40 and 4:45 p.m., a miscreant tried to break into a red 2010 Chevrolet SUV at a post office in the 8600 block of Turtle Creek Boulevard, causing $600 worth of damage. The victim had left a purse in plain sight on the front seat.
Between 9:30 and 9:38 a.m. on July 25, a burglar broke into a black 2013 Cadillac SUV at Summertree Shopping Center in the 12200 block of Inwood Road and stole a $500 Michael Kors purse containing a $300 Michael Kors wallet, various credit cards, and a driver’s license.
Between noon and 2:30 p.m. on July 26, a burglar broke into a gray 2009 Nissan sedan at NorthPark Center and stole a $120 briefcase containing an $1,800 Dell computer, a $150 pair of sunglasses, and a $150 Seagate hard drive.
Between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on July 28, a burglar broke into a black 2008 GMC pickup at Summertree Shopping Center in the 12300 block of Inwood Road and stole a purse containing $500 cash and a Social Security card.
