Jacquelyn Kelly Broussard and Stephen James Howard were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at seven o’clock in the evening at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Father Peter Mangum, of Shreveport, La., officiated the double ring ceremony. Scripture readers for the ceremony were Douglas Karam of San Antonio, cousin of the bride, and Claire Broussard of Shreveport, sister-in-law of the bride. Ceremony music was provided by Serenata Strings. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Wyly Theatre, where guests dined and danced to the music of the Walton Stout Band.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guvie Paul Broussard Jr. of Shreveport. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sophia Abdo Karam of San Antonio and the late Edmond Dieb Karam, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guvie Paul Broussard of Alexandria, La. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lee Beene and Mr. and Mrs James Newton Howard. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jean Burnet Meskan and the late Mr. Robert Stephen Meskan and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Newton Howard.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture gown of white satin and silk organza designed by Monique Lhuillier for Warren Barròn Bridal. Its bodice was enhanced by a Juliette neckline accented by a collar adorned with Swarovski crystals and jewels, forming a cap sleeve. A magnolia-ruched cummerbund accentuated the waistline, and the skirt featured tufted tiers of the imported fabric, falling to a chapel-length train. The bride completed her ensemble with a sheer, silk illusion, fingertip-length veil. Encircling her bouquet of gardenias, roses, peonies, and hydrangea was her grandmother’s rosary, both a tribute to her grandmother and a fulfillment of the need for “something blue.”

Sister of the bride Leah Kristin Broussard of Dallas served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Vivian Costandy of New York and Holly Francis Nagle of Columbus, Ohio. Serving as best man was the brother of the groom, John Thomas Howard of Dallas. Groomsmen included Joseph Zvi Bress of New York, Todd Jacob Eberstein of Los Angeles, Richard John Nierling of Dallas, and Alexander John Daniel Varel of Dallas. Michael Alexander Ingram of Dallas, Edmond Karam of San Antonio, and George Saleh of San Antonio served as ushers. The flower girl was Lilly Ashmore, cousin of the bride, and the ring bearer was Daniel Parker, nephew of the groom, both of Dallas.

A native of Shreveport, Jacquelyn attended Southern Methodist University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in pure mathematics, with a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation, she began tutoring mathematics and Spanish, teaching piano, and designing websites and paper products. In August, she will begin teaching music at a preschool in Dallas, while continuing to pursue her other passions.

Stephen grew up in Dallas, attending Southern Methodist University, where he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the Cox School of Business. Upon graduation, he moved to New York, where he worked at UBS Investment Bank in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Following UBS, he worked in corporate private equity for DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and Compass Investment Partners in New York and London. After seven years, he returned to Dallas to continue his career in private equity.

The couple resides in Dallas.
