Burglars Steal Expensive Sports Gear From SUVs

Here’s your weekly preview of the crimes happening in your ‘hood.

Between 4 and 5:45 p.m. on July 1, a burglar broke into a white 2007 GMC SUV at Preston Center and stole a  golf bag containing $1,200 worth of clubs and a couple of pairs of golf shoes.

At 9:30 a.m. on July 2, a woman was unloading her gray 2004 Chevrolet SUV in an alley in the 7800 block of Inwood Road. She left her iPhone 4 on the car’s bumper while she went inside a business; when she returned, the phone was nowhere to be found.

At 9:53 a.m. on July 2, a woman left a diaper bag on the passenger seat of her brown 2008 Nissan SUV at Northaven United Methodist Church. When she returned to her vehicle just five minutes later, she discovered that a burglar had broken in and stolen her wallet containing $100 cash, seven credit cards, a driver’s license, and a checkbook.

Between 2 and 4:30 p.m. on July 3, a burglar broke into a white 2001 GMC Yukon at NorthPark Center and caused a total of $2,000 worth of damage to the ignition and steering column.

Between 2 and 5:50 p.m. on July 6, a thief entered a white 2004 Cadillac SUV at NorthPark Center and stole a boxing bag containing almost $500 worth of equipment — including a couple pairs of boxing gloves, a uniform, headgear, and a cup — and the $200 stereo.
