Bold Thief Walks Out of Store Wearing $7,900 Watch

Here’s your weekly look at some of the crimes that happened in your ‘hood last week.

At 5:30 p.m. on May 28, police were called to Whole Foods Market in Preston Forest Shopping Center, where a shoplifter tried to steal $64.82 worth of food (more than 2 pounds of olives, more than 2 pounds of salad, 28 cookies, a roll, and a drink) as well as a $17.99 bottle of Natural Balance Happy Camper herbal pills.

Between 1 p.m. on May 29 and 9:30 a.m. on May 30, a miscreant smashed the touch screen on a Redbox machine at 7-Eleven in the 5100 block of West Lovers Lane, causing $700 worth of damage.

At around 7:40 p.m. on May 30, a shoplifter entered Perry’s Liquor in the 9600 block of North Central Expressway and handed an employee a debit card, saying that he would be purchasing several bottles of liquor. He then filled a crate with eight bottles with a combined value of $360.92 before trying to walk out of the store without paying. The employee intercepted him at the door, causing the shoplifter to drop the crate. He fled in a gray 2005 Dodge sedan.

At around 11:05 a.m. on May 31, a burglar driving a black SUV pulled up behind a vehicle in a parking lot in the 5600 block of West Lovers Lane before smashing a window and stealing a $1,200 Louis Vuitton purse and a $400 Britax car seat.

At 1:08 p.m., a shoplifter entered Tiffany & Co. in NorthPark Center and selected a $7,900 Atlas watch. He placed the watch on his right wrist and walked around the store before walking out, still wearing it.

Between 7 p.m. on May 31 and 11:45 a.m. on June 1, a miscreant used a heavy object to crack the front windshield and damage the front of a black 2009 Audi Q5 in the 7100 block of Mimosa Lane, causing a total of $1,250 worth of damage.
