Could You Eat 43 Enchiladas in 10 Minutes?

Ed Dravecky looks proud to have eaten 43 enchiladas in 10 minutes. Or disgusted. Maybe both.

Enchilada’s on Greenville Avenue will hosts its second annual Cinco de Mayo Enchiladas Eating Contest at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, which is actually Cuatro de Mayo, but who’s counting? The contest lasts 10 minutes, and the 2012 winner, Ed Dravecky, scarfed down 43 enchiladas in that span. The winner gets a Caribbean cruise for two. If you’re interested, be there by 11:45. The registration fee is $10, with the proceeds benefiting the Lake Highlands High School Booster Club.

    Dan,
Pardon me, but why is this story more interesting/important than the University Park Parks Board recommendation to increase user fees and charge private instructors $1,000 per year access fees to our parks? The Paper had an article yesterday, and since this blog represents an opportunity to provide breaking news and engagement with/between citizens about something directy impacting the quality of life and wallets of residence, it would stimulate dialog and action.
This is a missed opportunity for a community service.

Sorry, Ed. I was going with the spelling supplied by the Enchilada’s folks.

DSquared, this blog post is not more interesting/important than the story you’re referencing, in my opinion. Stories that appear on the front page of the newspaper now appear on the front page of the website, not the blog. Because we have a limited number of such stories, I’ve scheduled the one about the new park fees to appear Monday morning, 36 hours in advance of the City Council meeting.
