Former First Lady Surprises Press At Bush Center Preview
Members of the media got a sneak peek at the George W. Bush Presidential Center this morning. The museum features exhibits highlighting lighter moments of his two-term presidency with sections such as “Tee Ball on the South Lawn,” as well as the more sobering events such as the 9/11 attacks featuring a dramatic installation of steel chards from the World Trade Center shooting up toward the ceiling.
Exhibits also include an exact replica of the Oval Office, decorated just as it was in Bush’s day, complete with pictures of daughters Jenna and Barbara, and statues of the family dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley. The media day ended with a surprise visit from Mrs. Bush in the Texas Rose Garden. “Morning, everybody!” she called out to greet the press.
Find out more about the new center with extended coverage in this week’s edition of the Park Cities People and be sure to check back tomorrow for more photos from the media preview.
