The George W. Bush Presidential Center just posted this photo of the new intersection signs on Facebook about half an hour ago. The University Park City Council voted to change Dublin St. to Bush Avenue in early March.
FROM HPUMC WEBSITE:(Why is there no published info about street and building closings for the area?) HPUMC will be closed on Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, April 26 due to the preparations and opening ceremonies for the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum at SMU. Since the founding of HPUMC, our church’s tie with SMU has been and continues to be a close knit relationship, and we face both the historic honor of having a presidential library and museum opening next door as well as the challenge of how to function as a church and neighbor. Unavoidable circumstances led to the decision to close, including security and restricted accessibility to our building and parking. We apologize for any inconvenience our closing may cause.
What? THe church is not even remotely next door to the library? it’ at least a mile away? this is outrageous.
How to function as a church is to stay open.
@Mandy – Information regarding street closures is still being finalized today. SMU, University Park, and Highland Park have all been working together on a cohesive plan. We will have the information for you on print and online as soon as it is finalized.
@churchguy – Though the church is on the other end of campus from the library, the presence of four former presidents and President Obama at the dedication will impact traffic for the entire area.
