Get Inspired Saturday at ARTsPark at NorthPark

I grew up walking over to NorthPark from my parents’ house on Villanova at the very edge of University Park. I learned about Warhol, Jonathan Borofsky, Joel Shapiro, Barry Flanagan, and countless others. Without even knowing I was learning, I received an education in modern art.

In step with Raymond Nasher’s legacy of encouraging free art and cultural education while you shop, NorthPark is hosting the fourth annual ARTsPark this Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m.

Check out live performances by Shakespeare Dallas, Contemporary Dance Fort Worth, the Dallas Children’s Theater, the Maguire School of Irish Dance, and many others. Sign up to volunteer at the opera or the symphony. Meet Clifford the Big Red Dog and WordGirl. Create and learn during family activities conducted by the Creative Arts Center of Dallas.

With 50 different arts organizations participating, there’s sure to be one to catch your fancy. Why not, it’s free, plus there will be ticket giveaways.

When I headed off to Virginia for college I left craving an arts community that I could participate in. That’s happening in Dallas. It’s exciting and fun. Now go get your art on.
