Gymnasts Earn State Berths

Led by Arielle Iola winning the all-around, the Highland Park girls gymnastics team finished second at regionals to qualify for state on Wednesday in Rockwall. Meyer Williams also won the all-around for the boys.

Iola also won the vault, bars, and floor. She finished third on beam. Also for the Lady Scots, Ashley Farley was fifth in the all-around, while Callie Clayton was ninth, Allison
Reece was 14th, and Roslyn Saplicki was 18th.

The Scots finished fifth as a team. Williams won the all-around by more than four points. He had a pair of two perfect 10s, and three 9.9s. He won floor, pommel horse, and bars.

The Lady Scots and Williams will compete at the state meet April 19-20 in Rockwall.
