High School Student Finds Bullets in Backpack
A student at Highland Park High School found two bullets in her backpack during lunch today, Highland Park ISD spokeswoman Helen Williams said. The girl immediately alerted an assistant principal.
Williams said the girl hadn’t used the backpack in weeks. Given its plain appearance, it’s possible that it was used by someone else in her family.
“It could have been something where her dad went to a shooting range and left ammo in there,” Williams said.
Administrators don’t believe what happened today is related to the recent spate of threats at the high school, but the district still made parents aware via email. Teachers broke the news to students.
Can everyone just calm down, for God’s sake.
Subsequent email said bullets came from backpack’s home, so just an isolated and unrelated incident.
@CDO: No kidding!!
I didn’t get a text message from HPISD. Same for others?
The district sent an email, not a text message. My mistake.
My son carried a cookie in his backback for two years. True story.
Kersten – Yes. As I recall, the district did send a text about the cookie. My son called me to come pick him up when your son went to authorities that day. I think we can all remember where we were on that day…. So frightening.
I wonder if her dad will let me tag along the next he goes to the range?
@CDO thank you for the big laugh!!
