Former Nordstrom Employee Steals Four Designer Watches Plus Two iPhones, Hides Items in Socks
Between 1 and 3 a.m. on Monday, a burglar broke into a tan 2001 Chevy sedan in the 6200 block of Royal Lane and placed a $1,200 Macbook and a $200 internal hard drive on the hood of another car at the home, leaving them to be damaged by rain before fleeing with a $6 parking meter. Perhaps he lives in a far-off land where cheap parking meters actually sell for more on the street than MacBooks?
At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, a would-be thief entered a home in the 4700 block of Cherokee Trail through an unlocked back door but fled when confronted by the owner. People – lock your doors! Always!
Between 5 p.m. on Monday and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, a would-be thief climbed through an unlocked window at a vacant home in the 5500 block of Park Lane. He cut $1,000 worth of copper pipes and wires and took assorted tools and a compressor with a total value of $1,000. He placed the items in the garage but left without taking them.

At 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday, two employees of Nordstrom at NorthPark Center watched on camera as a fellow employee took four Michael Kors watches into a back room, returning minutes later, with the items hidden in the palm of his hand. He then walked into the merchandise-integrity manager’s office, where he took two iPhones from a desk and hid them with the watches inside his socks. The witnesses then confronted the thief and called for police, who promptly arrested the miscreant. The best part is where he actually tries to steal from the merchandise-integrity manager. I think it’s safe to assume that he no longer works for the company.
At 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, a teen entered Build-A-Bear Workshop in NorthPark Center and placed $125.50 worth of merchandise in a Hollister bag. He then walked up to the register and tried to return the items, saying that his mother had purchased them. After realizing that he wouldn’t be able to return the items, the 19-year-old grabbed the items and fled. A security officer detained the shoplifter in the parking lot and retrieved the stolen items, which included a pink plush car and a couple of Hello Kitty stuffed-animal outfits. I’d like to know what a teen boy would do with stuffed-animal outfits, but maybe he was going to gift them?
At around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, a trickster entered Neiman Marcus in NorthPark Center and applied for a store credit card. After being approved, the woman charged two Louis Vuitton handbags on the new card before immediately heading to Neiman Marcus at The Shops at Willow Bend to use a different name to apply for another credit card. She tried to purchase more purses, but an employee noticed that the woman’s ID appeared to be tampered with. The shoplifter was arrested, but the bags purchased at NorthPark Center were nowhere to be found.
At 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, police arrested someone at NorthPark Center for leaving a child in a vehicle for more than five minutes. Child abandonment and neglect seems to be a common occurrence in the area these days.
At 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, a thief stole a $150 sign from the top of a vehicle at Boston Market in the 5900 block of West Northwest Highway. What you would do with a stolen Boston Market sign is beyond me, unless you were intending to work for the company and were looking to cut startup costs.
