Armstrong Elementary School Had Only Two Principals Between World War II and Gulf War
I’m researching a story about John S. Armstrong, the founder of Highland Park. When I started reading about his namesake elementary school, I was surprised to see that a 99-year-old campus has had only 10 principals. Two of those principals account for half of the school’s history. Ralph B. Griffin was in charge from 1945 to 1978, and his successor, Kenneth Thomas, was in the main office until 1995. That’s quite a stretch of consistency.
