University Park City Council Approves 5K
University Park City Council voted yesterday to approve a 5K run benefitting local nonprofit Friends of the Lost Boys – DFW. The organization completely relies on donations to help pay for tuition, books, emergency medical bills, rent, and food for the “Lost Boys of Sudan.”
The fundraising event will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. The path mainly falls within SMU campus boundaries, with one stretch looping around McFarlin Boulevard and University Boulevard to Boedeker Street. SMU staff and police were consulted regarding the route, as well as Luke’s Locker.
This is the organization’s second 5K fundraiser. They anticipate 200-300 runners and 50-75 volunteers to help with traffic and other needs.
My husband and oldest son had fun with this race last year. Please post the link for registration when available!
