Final Days Ahead for Baskin-Robbins at The Plaza
By now, most Park Cities/Preston Hollow residents are probably aware of the imminent closure of Baskin-Robbins at The Plaza at Preston Center. We’ve received a couple of tips from concerned community members who want to know why their beloved ice cream shop will be closing at the end of the month.
Rumors have been circulating that a Sprinkles Ice Cream is opening up in the Plaza, forcing the family-owned business, a community favorite for 40 years, out of the center.
In Friday’s issue of the paper, we get to the bottom of the story and set most of the rumors straight.
Sadly, it’s not likely that this location will be open next year, so you’re running out of time to get your beloved Daquiri or Jamocha Almond Fudge ice creams. Hurry in before the 29th (slated to be their last day of business) to get your favorites and give the family your well-wishes.
Pick up Friday’s issue of either Park Cities People or Preston Hollow People to get the full story.

I am so sad. We have been buying our family birthday cakes there for years. One time we tried another Basking Robbins (only because I was shopping near another location and wanted to save time) and it was not the same. Our family will be sure to stop by before the 29th and wish them well.
I had no idea – so sad. I have been going there since I was a little girl. Currently, it is the most affordable ice cream in the hood. Marble slab is good but VERY expensive.
Sad to hear about the BR store closing…rode bikes up there with my dad and brothers many summer nights after dinner time (or took the ’65 VW bug and leaned on the chrome front bumper)…probably started going soon after opening 40 years ago. Not surprised they are going out of business with rents in the center going up up up. Surprised they stayed in business so long. Their sales could afford rents in Snider Plaza maybe…wish them the best. Brings to mind the closing of the old Dairy Queen on Hillcrest across from SMU. Tough to see things change, but that’s the way the world works.
This is a real tear jerker. Ice cream trumps cupcakes any day of the week.
There is a family run Baskin Robbins at Preston and Royal. Guess we will be going there from now on.
