It’s Time to Light the “Holiday Tree”

Last year, Dan mused about the “holiday tree” lighting up in Snider Plaza and now’s the time to have non-denominational holiday fun again!

From 2-6 p.m. this Sunday, Snider Plaza starts the holidays at the 6th annual Snider Plaza tree lighting event with live performances, children’s activities,  and several vendors offering food and drinks. You can catch the tree lighting at the end of the festivities.

Also, Santa Claus will be in attendance, which we all can agree doesn’t signify any particular holiday, for kiddos to have their picture taken.

Children will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.  The tree lighting will take place at the end of the day’s activities.

I am offended by the exclusion of my beliefs when references are made to the holy month of Ramadan; please use the generic term “Holiday Month” in the future so as to not trigger the wrath of the PC Police.

Highland Park Village is all about celebrating CHRISTMAS. Keeping it real and I like that about them!

Pretty sure they called it the Holiday Tree Lighting because the event is at the start of the holiday season which includes Thanksgiving as well as Christmas. CHRISTMAS is celebrated as part of the holiday season. Also, its hard for me to imagine a shopping center that keeps it more real than Snider Plaza. Instead of corporate real estate trusts buying their turnkey events, Snider Plaza merchants volunteer to put on this community event. Much more real than the Village ever could be.
