Republican Jason Villalba Wins District 114 Seat
The election proved to be a victory for many Democrats in the city, state, and country. But last night, the neighborhood remained red.
Republican Jason Villalba, a Preston Hollow resident, won a seat in the state House of Representatives District 114, beating Democrat Carol Kent, a Lake Highlands resident.
Last night during his victory speech, Villalba said he is excited to serve the people in his neighborhood, and will fight to work on issues that are important to them.
“We couldn’t have done it without the people of Preston Hollow,” he said. “We were strongly ahead in the neighborhood, and I will fight to work on the issues that matter most to them: to have a strong public education system, to make sure we have a robust economic climate, and to grow jobs and grow the economy in Texas.”
Both candidates carried their individual neighborhoods, but Villalba gained more votes east of North Central Expressway. The final vote was 33,865 for Villalba, 28,656 for Kent.
