Park Cities YMCA Returns to City Council
Though for what I’m not entirely sure. Take a look:
Subject: CONSIDER AND ACT: Provide direction to staff regarding conditions for a draft ordinance addressing the YMCA request to amend PD-12
This is the point in the agenda when I usually click through for more information. Click:
BACKGROUND: The City Council may provide specific conditions to staff for drafting of an ordinance amending PD-12 for possible future consideration.
Not wildly helpful. The Council has a closed session to discuss the matter before the meeting; maybe more will come from that. Join me tonight at 5 p.m. to find out.
Please fast forward to 2020 and gets this over, it will be like the Chase Bank ordeal, on and on it goes!
It won’t be like Chase Bank at all, because the Y won’t go through this again.
If it passes, a new building will be built and if it doesn’t, then they’ll renovate – which doesn’t require a PD change. If a new building happens, the neighbors will get a significant reduction the size and activity from the original PD request, a dramatically improved parking situation and a lot of new operational restrictions. Meanwhile the Y will get a building that meets their long term needs. If a reno happens, then everything else will remain status quo for the next 20 to 25 years – which is exactly what occurred in 1988. And that didn’t solve anything for anyone.
