Factory GPS Units, Tires Snatched From Dealerships
Between 8 p.m. Sept. 14 and 6 a.m. Sept. 15, a burglar broke into 10 SUV’s at Sewell Buick GMC in the 7400 block of Lemmon Avenue and stole seven in-dash GPS units with a combined value of $21,000.
The burglar cut through the dealership’s chain link fence and broke into the rear, driver-side window of the vehicles. The estimated damage for the eight GMC Denali SUVs and two GMC Yukons is estimated at $50,000.
And meanwhile, just down the street, a burglar managed to lift eight chrome wheels and tires valued at $7,000 off a black 2012 GMC truck and a tan 2011 Cadillac at Sewell Cadillac.
The stolen navigation systems are the first since Highland Park officers caught two suspects who admitted to more than 80 SUV burglaries in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow in August.
Those suspects primarily stole third-row seats until an overabundance pushed them to start taking the factory navigation systems.
