Want a Free Steak Dinner? Catch a Burglar.

Remember last week, when Andrew reported that Highland Park DPS officers had caught the alleged third-row seat bandits?

Well, turns out they had a bit of an incentive. At yesterday’s Highland Park Town Council worksession, the five officers responsible for the arrests were honored by the Council and DPS Chief Vinson.  And he had made them a promise.

“I told my folks that anyone who caught a crime in progress would get a steak dinner,” he said.

He then passed out Outback Steakhouse giftcards to the men responsible, save one. That officer’s recovering from an injury suffered during the apprehension of Brandon Craft and Moses Navarette.

DPS also updated the believed haul of the two men, across Highland Park, University Park, and Dallas: 80. Eighty third-row seats. Vinson said the District Attorney’s Office is working to roll all the cases into a larger indictment, and has assigned a special prosecutor to the case.

Not that it isn’t a great gesture, but surely there’s a restaurant in HP that he could give a gift certificate to?

Dallas has so many great steak houses, why send them to the worst one in Texas.
