Two Caught in Third-Row Seat, GPS Burglaries

Early this morning, two men allegedly responsible for more than $50,000 of stolen property in Highland Park were apprehended in the 5100 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

Brandon M. Craft,  28, and Moses Navarrete, 30, were targeting third-row seats and factory in-dash GPS devices in GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, and Cadillac Escalade models.

Highland Park Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sgt. Lance Koppa said HP had heightened patrols running in the area after 12 SUV’s were burglarized overnight on Sunday.

Early Tuesday, a HPDPS officer on patrol saw a Honda running with one of the suspects sitting in the passenger seat. The second suspect was nearby and tried to flee the scene. Additional officers responded and both were apprehended.

Charges are pending on the 12 burglary cases and they are working with other agencies to see if these men had any connection to the massive wave of burglaries that have hit the Park Cities and Preston Hollow.

Koppa said these arrest should show an immediate reduction of these crimes in the area.

    Outstanding!!

I still can’t for the life of me get the whole third row seat theft…is there really a black market for third row seating? Anyhow, Thanks to our Law Enforcement, these tools are off the streets. Good job!

@Ray, I am like you but today I visited with a HP officer and he explained, when you buy a vehicle, it is an option of having the third seat. The market is created by those that have had one stolen and want it replaced and those that wanted one and chose not to buy one initially.

I feel a little better knowing where the market is. It will be interesting to see what the next marketing/theft opportunity is.

A Honda? Really? Unless it was a minivan or a pickup, I don’t see how they were driving off with these third row seats.
