Free Torchy’s Tacos Giveaway
A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Torchy’s was opening a new location off SMU Blvd., in the aptly named BLVD multi-use complex.
The opening will be on Aug. 15 (check out pics posted to their Facebook page today), and they’re giving out a bunch of free food. That’s where we come in.
In order to get said free food, you need to get this pair of passes I have sitting on my desk. I planned on keeping them for myself, but I make so much money that I don’t need free stuff. Duh.
So. A pair of passes to Torchy’s grand opening party to the first person who can answer the questions below. And, since the internet has completely ruined trivia, there will be two questions, and the honor system is in effect. As you’ll see, these have nothing to do with tacos, the Park Cities, or cilantro. Drop the answers in the comments, and I’ll give directions from there.
1. There are 18 individuals who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame multiple times. Only one of those 18 has been inducted three times. Name him/her.
2. How Who is the greatest American novelist? I recognize there will be many guesses, but only one correct answer. That’s what makes this prize-worthy.
Clapton’s been inducted 3 times. As far as best American author, the answer’s clearly Ernest Hemingway.
Oh and I’m going to pop on here regularly until someone gets both questions right.
Meaning, poor Phil, you did not.
1. Eric Clapton- as the person above me wrote too.
2. Mark Twain! (maybe?)
1) Clapton 2) William Faulkner
Jeff’s our winner! Email me at bradford at peoplenewspapers dot com, and we’ll figure out how to get you these passes. Thanks for playing, folks.

Clapton.
2. How is the greatest American novelist?
The greatest American novelist is unfortunately not doing so well as they have already passed on from this life.
Point of order. Jeff did not answer the question posed in #2.
1) Eric Clapton
2) How’s the greatest American novelist? Well — it’s Faulkner … that answers who. But your question was “how,” so the answer must be dead!
I can always count on you all to keep me honest.
So why does their slogan have to use a curse word (as well as their logo)? Has the lowest common denominator of society dropped so far that that is the only way to sell a taco? To swear about it?
1. Clapton and 2. Cormac McCarthy. Faulkner is dead so he ‘was’ the greatest but McCarthy is currently the greatest. I learned from Clinton that a lot depends on what your definition of is is.
1. Eric Clapton
2. Edgar Allan Poe
Fingers crossed we are right! 🙂
1. Clapton
2. Fitzgerald
